At first, this can be confusing. The automation setup looks correct, the post is live, and comments are coming in—yet the automation doesn’t trigger.

 

After careful testing, the cause becomes clear.

 

The Hidden Cause: Age-Restricted Content

Instagram applies age restrictions to certain posts and reels. These restrictions may not be obvious when you’re logged into your account, but they block automation at the API level.

 

When a post is age-restricted, Instagram prevents third-party tools (including ReplyRush) from sending automated DMs linked to that content.

 

This is why your automation might work flawlessly on all other posts, but not on a specific one.

 

How to Check If This Is the Issue

  1. Open the post or reel in incognito mode (or log out of Instagram and try viewing it).

  2. If you see a message such as “This content is age-restricted”, that’s the reason the automation isn’t working.

  3. Review why Instagram flagged the content—it could be due to music, visuals, captions, or keywords.
