Instagram Error 2534122: “Link Can't Be Shared”

Overview

When sending an automated Direct Message (DM) on Instagram, you may encounter the following error:

Error subcode: 2534122
Error title: Link can't be shared
Error message: “You can’t share links at this time because your activity may not follow our Community Standards. Please refer to the Account Status page to resolve.”

This error usually indicates that Instagram has placed a restriction on your account that prevents you from sharing links in Direct Messages.

How to Resolve the Error

You can check your Instagram Account Status and request a review of any restrictions.

Step 1: Open Instagram

Open the Instagram app on your mobile device and go to your Instagram profile.


Step 2: Open Settings and Activity

  1. Tap the ☰ menu in the top-right corner.

  2. Select Settings and activity.



Step 3: Open Account Status

  1. Scroll down to More info and support.

  2. Tap Account Status.




Step 4: Review Your Restrictions

On the Account Status page, check for any restrictions or issues affecting your account.

For each restriction:

  1. Tap Review.

  2. Follow the instructions shown by Instagram.

  3. Tap Request Review if the option is available.

  4. Submit the review request.






Step 5: Wait for Instagram's Review

Instagram will review your request and determine whether the restriction can be removed.

Once the restriction has been removed, try sending the automated DM containing the link again.



If the Error Still Appears

If you don't see a restriction in Account Status, or the error continues after submitting a review:

  • Make sure you're using the latest version of the Instagram app.

  • Check Account Status again for any additional restrictions.

  • Avoid repeatedly sending the same link while the restriction is active.

  • Wait for Instagram to complete the review before retrying the automated DM.

  • If the restriction remains, contact Instagram through the support options available in the app.

This restriction is applied by Instagram. The availability of Review or Request Review options may vary depending on the account and the type of restriction.
