Comment Replies Are Working, But DMs Aren’t Sending? Here’s the Fix

If your automation is successfully posting comment replies but direct messages (DMs) aren’t being delivered, don’t worry—you’re not alone. This issue is usually caused by a simple Instagram setting.

⚠️ Common Error Message

"The account owner has disabled access to Instagram Direct Messaging."
Error Code: 200

This means your Instagram account has restricted third-party tools (like ReplyRush) from sending or receiving messages via the Instagram API.

🔧 How to Fix It: Enable DM Access on Instagram

To ensure ReplyRush can send automated DMs, update your Instagram messaging settings:

  1. Open Instagram

    • Log in through the mobile app (recommended) or a browser.

  2. Go to Settings

    • Tap your profile icon

    • Select the ☰ menu (three lines) in the top right

    • Choose “Settings and privacy”

  3. Open Messaging Preferences

    • Scroll to “Messages and story replies”

    • Find the section titled “How people can reach you”

  4. Enable Access for Connected Tools

    • Look for a toggle such as “Allow access to messages” or “Connected tools”

    • Make sure this option is turned ON

Once enabled, ReplyRush will be able to send automated DMs in full compliance with Instagram’s API policies.
